Question about installing a WIndows OS on a brand new Hard Drive.

Ok, so I use Windows XP and I've never built a computer before(Plan on my first build at the end of April in time for the new Intel Processors). My question is that I know how XP has Upgrade and Full versions, but I can't seem to find info on that kind of thing for Vista. So can someone link me up with the correct vista I would need(like the full version of XP, just vista). Would this work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16832116204 . It seems kind of cheap when the XP full versions were like $200.

that will work fine but dont expect any tech support from ms

edit - the 32 bit version might be a better bet

go for the 32bit version also make sure your mobo supports vista but remember if your first build is for gaming that vista is new and not always compatable with all games ,sound cards , printers etc.

Ok, thanks, should I really need windows support anyway? Oh, and here is my parts list for the computer I want to build after intel does their price cuts: http://www.computerforum.com/78628-thinking-building-new-computer.html I may change the CPU to a quad core if it really goes down to $266.
