Question about Internet speed & pricing

Right now with my current provider(2 years) when I have done speed tests it always is around 26Mbps download and 2.3Mbps upload. I'm done with my agreement and i'm seriously thinking about doing without the phone and cable tv. Right now i'm streaming Netflix and YouTube. Very satisfied. The only other thing that we are using is a laptop.

Also using a Netgear(N600)for the wireless signal. No problems with streaming or the laptop. Now 1 provider here in town has an only internet price of $72 for 25Mbps and $62 for the 15Mbps. Now this is there regular price.

I was surprised they actually listed there regular price cause usually its always pay this price for 12 months then the regular price kicks in. Now in my situation could I get by with the 15Mbps speed?

Its been a few years since I have had to check on internet prices but $62 and $72 seems fairly high to me. Like I said its been a few years since I last checked so maybe i'm out of the loop. But with my speed tests numbers do I pretty much have the 25Mpps speed now?

I actually have 3 places I can get cable/phone/internet from so at least I have a choice. So could I get by with the 15Mbps or spend the extra $10 and get the 25Mbps? Also do you think the price is fair? Thank You for your input!

Where are you from? That seems high to me. I was paying like $55 for 30mbps not long ago. I'm down to $40 because I got promotional pricing again.
Though, If all you are doing is what you say you are doing, 15 sounds fine.

You could easily get by with 15mbs. The price does seem high even though we pay $138/month for a 4mbs up/down connection. We don't have any other choice (other than satellite).

I'm in the Eastern Iowa/Iowa City area. I do no gaming. Like I said I have the Netgear router, laptop and a Vizio Smart TV that I stream Netflix through. The TV is 10ft from my computer & router and the laptop is on the floor above also about 10 ft away.

My real concern is if I have a download speed of 26Mbps and upload of 2.3Mbps now would going to a lower speed prevent me from what i'm doing now. Century Link has a 3 year price of $67.94 for unlimited phone and 12Mbps Internet. You have a one time purchase of the modem($100),phone activation($35)and shipping($14)but the installation you do yourself. I would have no problem with the install.

Like I said I simply want to drop cable. Was thinking of maybe getting a ROKU box. Now would a 12Mbps speed be good enough? You have to admit when it comes to internet speeds they can be quite confusing and it seems all providers go out of there way not to offer just the internet connection. All I hear is "bundle". Then your always confused by all the promo prices.

Could I get by with the 12Mbps speed for what I do? This is the part that has me very confused. Thanks! Appreciate your input.
