Question about IP addresses

Hate to bring this up again (for the record I'm not doing anything unethical or 'bad' as someone so kindly accused me, I just want a personal account on this particular forum that won't get mixed with my departments account)

Is there way to temporarily change my external ip? Or a program that changes it for you whenever I wanted to post something as myself?

Actually some routers and firewalls change your IP adress so that it is not actually traceable to your location.

And I'm pretty sure you can change your IP from within Dos or Command Prompt, though I'm not really sure how to actually do it. Its one of the ways to cover your ass when you are "analyzing network security," lol.

you cannot change your external IP address, it is stipulated by your service provider.

dont confused between your internal and external IP addresses

hmmm... well this sucks! I really dont want to chance it, but at the same time I wanted to be able to contribute as myself and not as the news man.

Oh well, the perils of good paying job ;)
