http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D955XCS/index.htm

It says that it supports LGA 775 processors, and because the Pentium D and Extreme Edition processors are both dual-core, doesn't that mean Core 2 Duo processors will work too? Or does it specifically have to state whether it will work? And has anybody every tried using unsupported processors on a motherboard that could tell me the results?

And the reason it's BTX is because my computer is a Dell which has BTX motherboards.

well it says "this board brings extreme performance to the desktop by combining support for dual-core processing", im not very familiar with intel im amd all the way lol, but what socket is the core 2 duos?, coz the motherboard is a 775 socket, so if core 2 duos are 775 then it should work

Intel lists specifically the processors that will workw/each motherboard, no I dont think The core2duo will work on that one look at other MOBOs on their site you will see, they are listed specifically.
