Question about my motherboard

Alright, so I have an MSI k9a2 platinum motherboard, found here, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136&Tpk=msi k9a2 platinum

Now my question/concern is, I was reading over the manual today (really bored..) and I noticed that there were two spots to plug in power for my cpu. So I kinda got excited thinking my cpu wasn't being used to its full potential, but when I plugged in a cord to it, my computer would give no display, but it would still start up. I'm just really confused right now, if someone could shed some light as to what is happening here..

Thanks for any help.

Heres a picture of what I'm talking about (red is the one thats plugged in now, green is the other spot):

The molex power connector is just for to help the board power the PCIe slots for the Video cards if your running a Crossfire setup instead of the slots having to get all there power just from the main power connector. Dont even need to use it unless your running crossfire.

As far as it not giving you a display if its plugged in, I have no idea. I have used them plugged in or not and never made any difference.

Weird, either way, thanks for the info :)
