Question about my new computer PART 2.

Okay about two weeks ago I asked some questions about my new Dell XPS 700.
And well everyone was talking about how I should have waited until Core 2 Duo. Well now Dell Offers that for the Computer that im purchasing. And yeah what really sucks it still hasnt gotten here but thats a good thing because I can switch out the Pentium D 950 for a core 2 duo because its still in pre production.(they havent started building it...and I ordered it June 6...anyways they say its being delated because of the Graphic Cards. It has 2 7950s in it.) Okay but yeah now to my question which Core 2 duo should I get.
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor E6600 (2.4GHz)
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor E6700 (2.67GHz)
I know I should obviously get the faster one but is there really much of a difference in between these two? And the only reason im asking is because there is a $250 difference between the two. And if I get the E6600 they said it wont cost much extra but if I get the E6700 its more expensive. Ah well most likely Ille get the E6700 but I want your ensight.
Heres what the computer would look like if I keep its current Configuration:

DELL XPS 700 Special Edition Formula Red:
Intel Pentium D Processor 950 (3.4GHz,800FSB) w/Dual Core Technology and 2MBcache
2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz(1gbx2)
Dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Cards Quad SLI
160GB SATA NCQ Hard Drive (10000RPM)
48X Combo and 16X DVD+/-RW
X-Fi PCI Sound Card
1 kilowatt Power Supply
Ageia PhysX Processor

But yeah another bad thing if I change is that I dont know if they will be able to keep my graphic card setup. Because you know they would be using a different motherboard or would they? Or if it will take even longer than the 2 months that I have already waited for this. Anyways thanks in advance.

The motherboard would probably be the same. As long as it has the 965 or 975 chipset, it supports conroe. But heck, with dell, who knows?

I am relatively baffled as to why you want to have a dell with specs like this....when you could save yourself around $700 to build it yourself

True that!

Considering they don't tell you what motherboard they are using (which is such crap) I don't know if it's going to be as easy as switching the mobo. I do not believe just because a board has the same chipset that it works with the core 2 duo.

As for the processor. The e6600 is the stepping stop into true core 2 duo status since it has the 4MB cache. I would say the e6600 will be perfectly fine. The e6700 will probably be slightly faster but I would bargin to say not by much (at least not to justify the price). Really it comes down to how much is to much or how much do you really need.

Okay well we called today and changed it...but they made me switch from 2X7950s to 2X7900GTX. They said they dont offer it on the intel core 2 duo pcs.
I got the 6700 btw. I hope it gets here soon.(It was delayed because of the 7950 so now that im not getting it. it should be here in the next two weeks or so).

Have fun with your new system!

Okay now they say I have too much stuff on the computer so we are going to just cancel it and order through IBUYPOWER. This makes me hate dell.

If not Ku-sama then IBUYPOWER.COM is the way to go. Dell is wayyy overprice and Ibuypower is reasonable.

and the fact that i , myself, cant overcharge cause im not a corperation :P

but on top of that, give me a price range, and ill see what i can put together for you, trust me, i know what works
