Question about Paypal.

I found a buyer for my old computer. He payed (Possibly) Through paypal. I just got an e-mail from [email protected]. Is that the real e-mail address from Paypal, or is it fake?

The paypal site says nothing about recieving funds but the e-mail says the funds are being held until I can get a confirmed tracking number to paypal.

Is this a normal thing with paypal? Please help.

EDIT: After browsing the internet I'm seeing that it's most likely a scam, since there's nothing on my paypal about payment or anything of that nature. But if anybody else has input, let me know.

If you received a payment, if will be in your paypal account at paypal.com. Nothing else. Here is the email address that I received this week from a payment I sent. [email protected] I would think payments received should be from the same address. Sound like a scam.

Hmm yea, if it ends with someting like @gmail or @hotmail or @yahoo or anything you buddies' e-mail addies might end with, it's probably a fake. For some reason i refuse to believe that PayPal would use some kinda free eMail service to do their mailing...

It's a scam alright.

be careful now cause there is a lot of these sort of spam e-mails going out.

Just watch them. You get a lot from banks, a lot of them are from hotmail and other accounts.

Yep. That's definitely not legitimate. I've only received a few payments through PayPal, but I've always (with one exception) received my payments immediately. I've never seen that email address that you mentioned.

Even if it comes from an @paypal.com address, it may not be legitimate. The best way to check is to manually type in www.paypal.com, log in, and see if the funds are there. If they are not, then don't send out the computer/or anything until you receive payment.

Yeah, don't EVER send anything to Nigeria. lol. I wasn't dumb enough to send anything. I think after Iraq we attack Nigeria, get some American goods back. If you ever meet someone from Nigeria, or go there, punch them in the stomach then grab them by the ears and pull them down as you knee them in the face. Then make them bite the curb like in American History X.

Damn Nigerians, the skid-mark of the world.

Also, Paypal will NOT allow individuals from Nigeria to make paypal accounts, so if someone from Nigeria says they are going to give you money through paypal, it's automatically a lie.

Are you racist?

Anyway, it doesn't look like a legit email, report it to Paypal.com so they can try to stop it.
