I'm thinking of buying a DFI Lanparty X48-T2RSB Plus. Will I get maximum 16x16 performance in crossfire with the use of a PCI-E sound card? or will the soundcard "take over" some of the available pci-e lanes?
With the layout of that board, looks like the single PCI-Express slot will be covered by the primary (Double Slot) GPU - Leaving you with two open PCI slots (with a CrossFire setup). I don't believe that use of the other open slots will take bandwidth from the two PCI-16 slots though.
oh yea, i'm using a hd4850 (single slot) and plan on getting another one some time soon.
The reason I ask is because I used to be using a gigabyte p35-ds3p. With 2 gfx cards plugged in, the slots would be at 16x and 4x and with the soundcard plugged in it went to 16x and 1x.. I just don't want to plug all of it in and find out that my performance drops.
OK, I understand the question better now. The Gigabyte board specs show 2 PCI-16 slots (1 with PCI-Ex16 lanes,1 with PCI-Ex4 lanes), while the DFI specs show 2 PCI Express 2.0 x16. Which seems to indicate no loss of bandwidth when using both slots.
