question about rebates on computer parts

I don't know if this is in the right place or not, if not could someone put in the right place.

Anyways, I just bought parts off of Newegg and 4 of them has rebates. To get the rebates, it says you have to cut out the UPC code from the packaging and include a copy of the receipt. My concern is say I do that and for some reason, either it quits working or it doesn't work at all, would I still be able to return that product without the UPC code?

If it's within 30 days, then usually yes, however you may be charged a restocking fee. Best bet is to assemble the system, then test it out for a week or two before cutting up the boxes for the MIR.

That is what I will probably do but the rebate form says it must be postmarked within 12 days of the purchase date. So I can't wait to long.
