I went to install Remote Desktop today, so I could access my computer from school (would be so nice), but, I can't find my windows xp pro disk. Is there any way I can get the files that would be required legally, or do I have to get another disk?

(or can I borrow a relatives :) )

Any help appreciated,

I am trying to do this - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/northrup_03may16.mspx

It needs to install somthing, and I don't have the disk.
The software you gave me is for windows 98 computers and such so they can access other computers.

Thanks for the help,
Jbrown

There are two ways to Remote Desktop, via the Remote Desktop Connection software which is the link I provided earlier or the web version which is here:

Do you need a direct network connection to use the software version, or can this be done over the internet? I am confused now.

Yes.

One is just browser based and the other uses the Remote Desktop Software.

Yes I need a direct network connection, or yes, it can be done over the internet. Sorry SFR, I am new at this whole thing, and I just want to be able to access my computer from school over the internet. I already have Remote Desktop running on my home network (perfectly may I add), but I just can't get it to work over the internet.

Can someone please explain what I have to do to make the internet based remote desktop work? I really need help here.

Thank you guys so much (especially SFR),

Ok, really, I understand all this now. My real question is this:

In order to install the web software, you need to have ISS
installed on your computer. In order to install it, you need
your windows xp pro disk. I can't find my disk, is there any
way that I can still install ISS?
