question about thermal paste...

i recently started my first build and got everything installed and figured out my mobo was DOA... so i took everything apart and am waiting for a new mobo...

my question is, will my thermal paste still be good??? it's kinda in a hard state now, but after a few minutes of the processor running, that should gel back up right? or should i buy some new stuff?
 
Best to remove the old paste and re apply some fresh new stuff. It doesnt cost alot and saves the risk of cooking your CPU.
 
If you bought AC5 or anything, then there should be plenty in that little tube. You only need a very small drop in the center of the CPU.
