Question about where my laptops battery plugs into.

I have a hp Compaq nc6000 and I bought a new battery for it. The battery worked fine at first and then after awhile it stopped showing up where it is indicated how much power is left in the battery. So I pulled the battery out and slowly slid it back in and then the indicator started showing again. This happened a few more times and I would do the same trick by pulling it out and then pressing it back in. Finally the trick would not work anymore so I pulled it out and put is back in more aggressively and then this worked a few times. Now it doesn’t work at all. I took out my battery and looked at it and can see that a small piece of the black plastic that covers metal which connects the battery and laptop has chipped off.

Now I am assuming that the battery is broken. I also wonder if the metal pegs that stick out inside of the computer to make the laptop/battery connection are bent now.

If the pegs are bent, can I replace them? I’m sorry, I don’t exactly know the exact name of this part. I have included pictures just in case my ignorance is to hard to understand.

What do you think?

you will need some mini tools for that incident. check with a local professional store for electronics or online. could try taking the case apart. small very small screwdriver or needle nose. ya might be able to straighten it out with a electronic screwdriver set. either way if ya don't you will likely have to send back to factory for repair. check with radio shack if in the states. good luck with that.

if ya ever get the battery back in, you better not ever take it out.
those pins will flex and bend again. as a side note then if the the pin breaks
you could get a harness maybe to come out and plug it in. then stuff it in there.
do one time and leave it alone. done deal, over.

Check with radio shack for what?

Thats not the problem, I have no issues getting the battery in and out, it will not show a connection to the computer. As long as thats the case the battery is useless. Leaving it in like I do now just fills the hole that would be there if it was not.

Do you mean a wire harness? I would think that there would be some kind of replacement harness I could buy if the pegs are messed up instead of having wires hanging around freely and then just stuffing them in.

radio shack has some very small tools for working with smt and electronic boards. the harness? they might have a connector. could check on line or manufacture. a professional electroic store like newark would carry this stuff.
