A few years ago i had a computer with XP Pro on it. Somewhere along the line i bought a Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc. Its my wifes computer and i am going to wipe clean. Question is to wipe the disc with windows 7 on it can i go ahead and use the upgrade disc. Will that work. or do i have to reinstall xp then use the upgrade disc. I also have a full install for my computer (windows 7 pro) installation disc.
thanks

im guessing using the upgrade disc it will see that its registered to that computer and the installation will go fine.

Upgrade disk can be used on any computer, key isn't tied to original installation. Can be installed on other machines providing it has been uninstalled from previous machine.

Your comment was interesting and didn't know. I lend up using another disc i had from my machine build. it was a distribution disc and accepted the key. Started up windows ok. And looking around in the directories i see occurrences of previous programs she had on it. My question is my XP Pro disc would give you an option for quick format or full format. I always went with full format for clean install. these options were not there. Anybody explain why. I know i can use say kill disk. what happen to these options i always had in the past to format during install.
thanks
