Its never been an issue and is not. In the system tray I have a icon that when i hold the mouse over it says Network, no internet access. Its always been there. Just shows a yellow exclamation. I don't have any problems. I have 5 computers networked and 3 are off. that's it. Any ideas?
Im just curious why or how to make it disappear.

And all internet works fine on all computers when being used. Its always been there. just never followed up with it.

when i right click it i have two options.
troubleshoot problems
and open network and sharing center.

Maybe he is connected with wireless so Windows sees that no LAN is connected and simply just shows the exclamation for it.But that's normal...
Anyway I might be wrong so we will wait for him to answer...:D

I've seen a similar issue before, on XP. Same icon, and had the message "A network cable is unplugged" or something like that. She was connected via wireless, and it was wanting a Ethernet cable. So i pulled up the network connections page and disabled the Ethernet connection. Don't know if this is the same issue or not, but figured i'd post anyways.

I wouldn't really call that an issue lol.Windows is just programmed to automatically report if there is not LAN connectivity. It's not any kind of error lol.Just an information.Besides...you can always uncheck the box to show that icon wether you are connected or not.
Note that LAN icon is never showed if you do not have LAN adapter hardware at all,but that's logical after all lol :D

No wireless. its an Ethernet connection cat5.

In device manager I always had a yellow exclamation there also.
PCI Simple communication controller. (never figured that one out either).

Both have always been there.
I don't remember what the pci was being used for. there is only one port.
Not for internet though. its onboard.

Everything works and i got it all.

PCI simple communications is usally a dial up modem. or possibly a card reader. If you right click on that device and click on properties. then go to the details tab. give me the 4 digit vendor and device ID numbers.

I do agree. I do not have any issues or never did. but i don't know how to get rid of these issues.

An John, i did as mentioned in device manager. In details just says Simple communication controller. thats all. nothing else. Yes i do have a card reader. I have 2 Barracuda's, 4 burners, card reader, Nikon coolscan, running two printers, and dual 24" synmasters. everything works. I have like 14 usb ports and they all work. i think the pci was another port card.
Im not whining but now im curious.
Love the adventure though. Figure it out. thats what computers are about.
The adventure and obstacles. ...........again.
It works fine. Everything works. Just errors that are always there and never payed much attention. Tried in the past to get rid of them and never figured it out.
