Hi all,

My grandmother's friend has been using a computer at her friends house when she goes over to New Zealand. She was using the e-mail a bit over there. And she has been is interested in getting maybe a laptop so she can sit anywhere in the house it works.......

Now at our local store for computer deals is a deal. This is it Now if you have a look at the specs... it is 512MB ram. Now my dad says it would struggle.... i'm interested to know.....

Now for the Wireless i have found this

Now would the store give the windows vista disk if i asked them??? (probably not ) they would only give me a recovery disk... because if i could the windows vista disk i would install windows XP on it... because she would find windows xp easier for what she wants to do.

I would also install office onto the computer.

What do you guys think? :o

I think most laptop is Vista now, but dell could customise one with XP
The laptop you linked is outdated.

For $700, you can get lenovo 3000 Y Series Y410(59012585) Intel Core 2 Duo T5450(1.66GHz) 14.1" Wide XGA 2GB Memory 250GB HDD Dual layer DVD Burner Intel GMA X3100 NoteBook - Retail with Vista or Acer Extensa EX4620-6194 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5450(1.66GHz) 14.1" Wide XGA 1GB Memory DDR2 667 120GB HDD DVD Super Multi Intel GMA X3100 - Retail with XP

However, I am not recommend you re-install a Vista lappy with XP. It could cause driver issue.

By the way, for the router, you need to know if her friend's house have a cable/ ADSL boardband. It is different.
