Question on a PSU

I have two dell comps sitting around and I believe the PSU went out one of them..

... I see one is a 450w (which is the one that went out)

and I see the other PSU is about 250 if not mistaken... my question is would I be able to just still connect the 250 just to see if the other powers on? Thanks

Yes, If you are not using a graphics card you should have no problem using it to confirm.

Do not use a brand other than Dell because usually the power pin out is different.

What do you have in the Dell computer that is still running as far as hardware? 250w is pretty limited, but if you are running a pretty basic tower is should be enough...

Thanks for the replies fellas.. no additional graphic card is installed or anything else... just your basic dell... one is a dell dimension 2400 and the other is a dell dimension 8200

Dell have their own PSU, not thermaltake nor corsair. So be careful to pick up right PSU for your Dell. It can be found by dell website but it is expensive.

The last time I put an aftermarket PSU in a Dell I just moved the pins around in the plug.
If you have to go that route a Dell pin out can be had online.
