Question on ADDing RAM. Please help! :-D

Hello. I currently have 512MB RAM(DDR not DDR2)... I was first thinking of replacing this with CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200), but then thought that it actually may benefit me even more to just ADD the 1GB to the current 512MB...

I have an HP pre-built, and the exact specs are here. I have, however, add a 6600GT GPU, 450W PSU, an extra fan, and an wireless internet card...

My questions are

a) Can I just ADD in the memory, or do I have to remove the old memory?
b) If I add it in, what do I need to know about timings? How do I know if both are compatible?(maybe u can find out from the system specs on the link above?)
c) Is the memory above adequate to add into my system?

Thank you..
(sorry im a nub :P )

Yes you can just add it, however, you are limited to 512MB per slot (which you are doing, so that's good). So, in other words, you cannot add a 2x1GB set.

As well, you are limited to DDR333, or PC2700, but it won't hurt to put the faster DDR400 in, since the DDR400 is most likely cheaper.
