Question on budget gaming build

I'm looking to make as good of a gaming computer as I can for around $700 (computer only, no monitor or keyboard or mouse), so I was snooping around Newegg looking for a decent setup. I had originally found an AMD build but was promptly told that Intel was almost universally hailed as a better gaming setup, so I revamped it a bit. Just looking to see if this layout is all compatible and seems legit.

Also, I heard that Corsair XMS was better for gaming RAM, and Newegg was offering 2G of XMS2 for only $30 more than the G.Skill, so I was curious as to which would be better.

Also, I could get an AMD setup with a slightly faster processor for about $100 bucks less, is there a major preference between the two brands for gaming?

realize this is on low graphic settings at 1024/768 res, on normal settings (high/higher res), this would be nearly indistinguishable

so now we know high speed ram is for oc'ing, we can go a little cheaper with 667 or like.

heres a nearly perfect budget build.

e4500 w/freezer 7 pro (overclock to 3ghz easy as cake)
p35-ds3l
centurion 5 case
corsair 450vx psu
2gb pc2-5300 + value ram
8800gt/ hd 3850 (depends on budget) <----very important
xxx gb hard disk

and core2duo beats athlons in gaming. it really depends on whether you want to overclock or not. if you do, go core2duo, if you dont, go athlon.


SERIOUSLY - go with something similar to this, you can change the e4500 to a e6550 or e6750, but do not spend 200$ on a mobo ina budget build.

MB: down to a GA-P35-DS3L
GPU: ATI 3850. or 8800GT, depends on budget.
RAM: Get RAM with CL4
PSU: Get a more powerful PSU
