question on javascript

I keep getting the message "you either have javascript turned off or you do not have the latest update" type of message. I do have the latest update. Running XP Pro. on a Pent D 3.40 ghx w/ 1024 ram on a recently (couple months) new Dell desktop. What can I do to correct this?

Do you have it enabled in your browser though? What browser are you using currently?

I am not sure. I am using IE 6.0
How do I enable it in my browser?

The top one is js.
Go to internet options, security, custom level and scroll down to scripting and enable active scripting
