question on memory settings

I just installed 1GB of DDR2 800MHz ram. When I run CPUZ or Pc wizard it says it is 400MHz. I went into the bios and it is set on auto and 400. It will not let me change anything when its set on auto.

I need some help on what to set it at. If I change it to maxmemclk I can then change the number from 400, 533, 667, or 800. Which one should It be set on? Common sense tells me 800 but I know that does not always apply. Also, Should I leave it on maxmemclk permenently?

Kingston 1GB DDR2 800
AMD Athlon x2 4600+

Value or performance memory? For performance memory here on an Asus model the post screen initially reported 667 not 800. A trip into the advanced section for dram timings to manually set those then saw DDR2 800 when set to 800. The timings here are 4-4-4-14 and were entered here with the following.
Tlc [4]
Trcd [4]
Trp [4]
Tras [14]
1T/2T/aurto was left at auto or 2T here. 1T forced a clearing of the cmos. best=auto

Refer to the board's manual for settings them there.
