Question on Mobo with ddr3

Looking at this evga mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188039
For the ram it says 1333 under specs
On the reviews when some comented on this Evga refered them to a forum were the memory can easily be ocd up to 1600
My question is if i plan on using 1600 ram do i need to purchase that type of ram or do i go with the 1333 and then oc?

If it is high-quality (expensive) and it usually has a good OCing yield, then yes, it could be OCed to that speed.

In my current desktop, I have cheap DDR2 800 RAM, and OCing to 900 can cause major instability.

Yea, as narsail said, cheap RAM ain't going to help you trying to OC.


If you're going for brands such as Corsair, OCZ, and G Skillz. They'll be OC'ing at that speed with no problem.

Well, would getting 1600 ram not work in the mobo since it only supports 1333?
