question on opening new windows

My dad uses internet explorer and whenever he opens a new window, the new window is never full screen. It is always small. I know there is a way to change it where it opens full screen but I can not find it. Could someone tell me how to change it please? Thanks

If an IE windows opens minimized at every attempt maximize it and then close it and then reopen it again. If the tools>folder options>view settings are set to remember the last folder viewed settings you will see IE open maximized. Give that a try first however to see if it will work on it's own.

Yeah, this is my dad's computer, not mine. The problem still isn't fixed. PC eye, you say go to tools>folder options>view settings, is that under Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer? I can't find that under Internet Explorer. I found where you can go to tools>internet options but I did not see anything about remembering the last folder view settings.

That won't be found in the IE options. That is seen when opening MyComputer or opening Windows Explorer itself found in accessories and bringing dowm the tools>folder options>view tab. Once in there you can uncheck the hide protected system files as well as check off the remember each folder's view settings as well as remember last folder viewed upon logging on.

While most of that is for browsing the drive and opening up sub folders while having a main folder open an IE windows is still a window in Windows. The maximize and then close to reopen IE right afterwards is the main tip however.

On forgetting to max a window and closing IE quickly like shutting down for the night or simply running an errand you will see a small windows when going to get back online the next time. Simply maximize, close IE, and then you can immediately open IE again to see it open to full screen since it "remembered" the way you closed it. This is why the view settings may have a part in that while being found in the folder not browser settings.

The problem is still not fixed. When I first open Internet Explorer, it is full screen but when I open a new window off of that one, it is not full screen. I tried maximizing it then close it and reopen it but does the same thing.

After like...100 times of maximizing it after opening it will remember.
Trust me I know.
But the thing is I always wanted to make it maximized when I open it but I just couldn't. Now it opens maximized :-)

Well that's the thing. If the first window opens minimized then you bring it to full screen to close it there and immediately reopen IE to see it maximized. For opening a second window like when right clicking on a link when a pop up blocker gets in the way to choose the open in new window option it will continue to see a reduced size.

I simply put up with maximizing until it finally remembers to open full screen. I probably have already gone past the 100 count on the new build here since early September and still have to click the maximize button for a second IE window using IE 7.

That's what you should be seeing. The tip earlier was when not seeing it open up full but as a reduced in size window like seen when minumized. I've been still trying to find something that will see the same work when either right clicking on a link that way or when simply clicking on one seen if you are on a support site and another window opens for more information on something.

There are a few tips on how to see a second window or pop up window opened to full screen if you look around long enough. The reference seen at the link here is for entering a command manually to see a full window in MSIE(IE there) or Netscape. http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/linking/linking_famsupp_87.html

The above and a few other tutorials point at using a javascript type coommand in order to see the HTML response. The only MS indormation douns so far applies to WMP not IE as seen at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912452

But if you look far enough you may just run into the "IE new window maximizer" seen at http://www.webattack.com/get/iemax.html

Maximizing it will not save the settings.. If someone tells you that, they have no idea what they're talking about.

To save the window size, leave it as normal when it opens, then move the cursor to one corner of the window. The cursor will change from a single arrow to a diagonal double-ended arrow. Click and hold the left mouse button. While doing so, drag the window to resize it to the size you want. Once done, close the window and reopen it as normal. Your size setting will be retained. If not, your registry will need a tweak.

When moving the cursor around in the IE to a corner and clicking on the left button a dropdown menu of choices appears since the IE icon is found in the upper left. That sees the restore. minimize, maximize, move, and close options in that. So make sure the cursor sees the clamps on the borders and is not still inside.

The freeware on the other once you have the configuration worked out automatically slams any new window wide open to full screen view. The change in the configuration is needed for having it leave room for the Start taskbar if you don't have that checked off to auto hide and leave it visible and locked at all times.

The IE window at first will block that out taking up the entire screen. But there's no need to remember other settings so far. If you right click and choose open in new window or simply left click on a link the second will first briefly look minimized and suddenly spring out to full view with that one used.
