Question related to game usage of ram.

My system holds 8gb but currently running on 4.

Ran Battlefield 4 with 8 gigs and found that it was using more than 50% of the ram according to the system monitor.

However, when I cut back to 4gb, the same game runs fine at the same settings. Why is this? If it was using more than 4gb when it was available, why is it running okay with only 4gb?

I guess because your paging file was sufficient enough to do the rest of the job the RAM couldn't take on.

Windows, and probably the game too, use RAM based on how much you have available. I have 12GB of RAM and my usage would probably be higher than yours for this reason.

Windows memory management changed with Windows 7 and will use as much as you throw at it to a point.
