I am kind of new to computer trouble-shooting. Here is the deal I have an IBM think pad it is an Intel Pentium 4- I don't know if that is useful- it runs fairly quickly updates have been done ect... I need to use it's wireless capabilities- I don't really know how- plus I keep getting the message that my network connections are disconnected- what do I do? can it be helped?

If running XP then then network connection disconnection message is because the ethernet cable isn't plugged in. To use the wireless, make sure the wireless driver is installed in device manager, look under network adapters for a wireless adapter.

What is the model of the laptop? As johnb said try going into the network adapters, which is in the control panel, and seeing if the wireless connection is there.
If it is not the right click on my computer and select manage then in the box that pops up choose device manager and tell us if there are any small yellow boxes with question marks in them.
