Sorta newb question ...
my motherboard is a M68MT-S2(gigabyte) , bios vers. FB

on their website it says it only supports up to 8bg

i wanted to move on up to 16gb ( running windows 7 home premium x64)

should i take a chance ?

Yeah, up to 8 gb ram on that mobo. No cheaping out on motherboards, if you think you want to upgrade it to 16 GB in the future.

To be honest though, 16GB of RAM is kind of overkill. I have 16GBs because I like to run VMs and they eat RAM for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper, but 8GB is more than enough for 99% of users out there and certainly more than enough for gaming.
