EMACHINES because there cheaper and for around $500 you get a Athlon 64 and a PciE video cad.
 
Neither...cause they both SUCK. Emachines are usually rebuilt crap, and compaq is like extreme word processing action....
 
Why?

If people said that emachines suck why did most vote for emachines?Whats good about them?Whats wrong with compaq?
 
compaq and hp are the same company....had a hp for 7 years and it worked great all 7 years. emachines i had took a crap like in 2 yrs.

HP and compaq NOW are the same company. [Before they bought Compaq I believe is was Packard Bell, which turned into HP or was bought by a different company, I'm not sure.] A while ago they were seperate, HP did the buyout, just like gateway did the buyout on eMachines. I would take an eMachines over HP usually though, but any prebuilt system in my mind is good for parts only.

i accidently voted for emachines but was meant to press compaq, couse seeing as compaq is HP, i like HP, they gd.
 
there good for basic computing, either one would be fine. As technology gets better and better, the computers from emachines and compaq are getting better. Id say emachines is better though since i've had some bad experiences with compaq, and emachines are usually cheaper and have a better price for performance ratio.
