Is it safe to remove RAM from a computer and insert it into another?

I have two memory chips in a Compaq Presario S6300NX that has 704 MB of RAM. I would like to remove the additional chip and insert it into a Compaq Presario S61103WM. Is this ok? I just want to be safe.
