Okay so i have wireless internet in my house. I have one of those blue linksys connectors on my computer on the first floor, and a surfboard cable modem. Upstairs, ive got a computer with a blue linksys wireless adapter and it runs on the internet fine.

Now, ive got a computer in the basement- but it has no internet connection. So my brother borrowed a linksys wireless modem designed for xbox and ps2. I thought it should probably work as a computer internet adapter. Yet, when i plug it in- it turns on- but does not connect to the internet.... Any suggestions?

Well I can't say I have any experience with PS2 or Xbox routers so I'm not much help there. Why not just buy a cheap wireless router on ebay? Some are running for <= $20.

You can't use a wireless adapter for a console system in a computer, if I'm understanding you correctly. Those are specifically designed to work with the hardware in the consoles, which is completely different from PCs. Veurruckte is right, you'll just have to get another PC wireless card, although I personally wouldn't buy anything from eBay...

Yeah, you can never be sure you're really getting exactly what the seller advertises. But for a mere $14 you have a very good chance of getting a working router. Personally, I won't buy anything over $40 on ebay.
