Ok so I was wondering if I should put Linux on my laptop. If I will, I will probably put it in a few months. Anyways what I wanted to know is which version is a pretty basic one that is good for home. Another thing I wanted to know is, what are the basic commands because I am totally new to this.

Thanks

ok dude for home use try 1 : suse linux 10.1
2: ubuntulinux 6.0.6

and the best ( no commands required) is Freespire..Fresspire is free just sign in to CNR and just download all the software u want, msn,Acrobat, yahoo IM and all u can think of.. ubuntu and suse requires a bit of skill but it's easy...the 3 basic suse commands for tar.bz2 or tar.gz file is " ./configure ,make, make install " to compile stuff and install....dunno much bout ubuntu but it's easier than suse......That's my opinion other may differ...Please try it though
