Questions about System

Yeah, I know. <.< I sound like a total noob, but I really want to make sure this system is worth the price.

I'm a part time gamer, but mostly into media building. (machinema, digital art, etc.)

I play games like World of Warcraft, and other various MMORPG's that are demanding on my current PC. (which is almost 7 years old. Rofl-my-waffle.) So I've decided to upgrade to a new PC, and I think I found what I'm looking for.

I'd just like a second opinion or some suggestions if possible, I'd really very much appreciate any assistance.

Here are the specs for the system I'm thinking of getting:

HP Pavilion a1712n-b PC Bundle

#Processor
AMD Athlon AthlonTM TM 64 Processor 3800+ with Enhanced Virus Protection 2.4GHz

#Memory (RAM)
1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory

#Memory Expandable to
4 GB

#Hard Drive
320GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive

#Optical Drive
SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology

#Operating System
Genuine Windows VistaT Home Premium

#Video Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics with 128MB dedicated graphics memory

Also Included:
# Front panel 9-in-1 memory card reader
# HP vs19e 19" LCD flat panel monitor with adjustable tilt and integrated speakers

The price for the entire package is $849.98

Thanks for any help in advance!

That graphics card spec needs upgrading alot already so if budget is a problem make sure it's got:-

PCi E graphics card slot
AM2 or 940 socket for AMD CPU upgrades.

Check that your games and software already work under Vista and bare in mind Vista uses around 512Mb Ram befire you load any software so photo shop should prob be ok with 512MB ram left over but Alt Tabbing out of WOW and working in Photoshop at the same time will be like pedaling an aircraft carrier with wheels up a mountain.

The 6150 is an integrated video chipset, and isnt good for gaming. If you plan on playing fairly recent games, you will want to get a dedicated video card.

As for the rest of the system, it seems decent, but not for $850. And the 1GB will be sluggish when running Vista with all it's effects.

Agreed. It's not great value. Aside from upgrading the video card (as everyone's said, 6150 is very poor in gaming), I'd also upgrade the CPU to a Dual Core model. The X2 3600+ or X2 3800+ shouldn't attract an enormous price premium, and would be worthwhile considering the work you'll be doing.
