Hey there everyone i am new here and wanted to find a great place to post a forrum and the decision was unanimous that computerforum.com was the place to go.. Anyways onward with my question, during summer time i figured i would buy a new computer i used to have a dell inspiron 5100 did the job well but now since everything was been running towards media centre type pc's and the computer runs all i figured i would shell out some good dough to buy a sweet one. Being a non avid buyer i first looked into dell.ca and looked under the xps line and compared that with the alienware lines and after finally making a seemed like at the time "great priced" computer i was decieved by the wonderful world of ebay, where i realized that i could make a even "better" pc for cheaper..
so this is my current set up and i was wondering with all this power what i can exactly do with it, my computer consists of;
Processor - Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73 w/ HT
Motherboard - Asus P5LD2 Deluxe Wifi-Tv Tuner
Ram- Corsair 5400 XMS2 DDR2 3(1 gb sticks)
Harddrive(s) - 600 gb Seagate Barracuda at 200 GB each
Sound Card - Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum edition
Optical Drives - A DVD-Rom drive and a DVD-RW with dual layer drive both are plextor i believe
Video Card - XFX 7800 GTX 512 edition (just bought)
Power supply - Antec 480 neoPower
Case - Cool master Wavemaster Tower Case (Black)
Monitor - Samsung Sync master 17'
OS - Windows XP professional with service pack 2
I know alot of you are thinking what a 17, but i originally wanted to buy a Samsung 42' Plasma HPR4272, but that's 3500 and now out of my price range so in the future hopefully summer time i can invest into it, so the main question is what can i do with my computer not to brag but i know its alot of power but the only computer game i have every played really is diablo 2 and i would like to get into some good computer gaming...so please some input of what i could do would be awesome...And another question about should i have gone to sata drives? and why?
And one more thing is yes the monitor is digital and yes i do use dvi cables and not the old style, and the price tag for my comp is .....brace yourselves just under 4,000 dollars canadian, i figured i would spend about 1,000 on a great computer and then have 3000 for a tv...so that is why i use a 17" now....thanks guys
