Questions bout computer and grphx card.

Well, for about a year now, i've had this problem with my computer. When i'd play a game, open to many broswers, or listen to music, it would reset itself or shut off. I don't and didn't know what the problem was.

Now the other day I was typing this HUGE thing on an xbox forum and it reset. I was this close | -- | to smashing my computer to pieces.

I worked on it a bit myself. I tried cleaning it up inside the case, Reformatted, and made sure all fans were working properly and lots of air was getting in. Nothing worked, still did it... It's GOT to be the ram or the graphics cards ram.

So I took it to the place I bought it and replaced what i had with the following..

OLD: Radeon 9200SE
NEW: Radeon 9550 (Has 256MB DDR)

OLD:2x 256 DDR (made 512 ram)
NEW:2x 512 DDR (made 1GB of ram)

Has anyone else here ever had this problem with thier computer? What the heck could it have been? Seems to be working good now... *crosses fingers*

I also would like to know if this system is sufficient to run games such as Half-Life 2, Doom 3 and the upcoming GOTY F.E.A.R.

AMD 2400+
2.0 GHZ
1.00 GB of ram

Sounds like your fine now. That graphics card might be holdin ya back a lil bit though. you might be able to run those games but they might not look too great.

I had that sudden resetting problem before but it went away after reinstalling XP.

Thanks guys. Well, I downloaded the F.E.A.R. demo and it awesome. I love the game but my card can only hold it on minimum/medium graphics. Half are medium, half are minimum. Should I just bump it up to all medium? Thanks.

Your graphics card probably couldn't take it all at medium.
