Questions going from PC XP to MAC

In Windows I can go into the "control Panel" to the add/remove icon and remove any program I do not want on my Hard Drive. Does Leopard have that ability? Some said you just grab it and drag a program and drop it into the trash can. If that is the case what about the hidden files in a program.

How is it done in the Apple Pro 13 inch notebook. I believe it has some version of Leopard. (I know Snow Leopard is coming out in Oct, I think.

If there is a problem with the files on my hard drive can I Reformat the hard drive with an apple/mac system, and reload my OS and files just as I can do in Windows XP?

If the OS got corrupt can I go out and buy a full version of lets say Snow Leopard when it comes out and load it onto my hard drive.

Thanks for any help

On Macs, you do just drag and drop programs into the trash to uninstall. I don't think that there are any hidden files left behind.

And when you buy a Mac, you get a disc with the OS that you can use to restore if you have any problems, just like you can with a PC.

It depends on the program, I know when I tried to uninstall Final Cut Studio, it left behind loads of data.

Thanks for

Thanks for the help guys.

I have heard what you mentioned about dropping a program into the trash can that some programs leave a bunch of files behind. On Windows XP when you remove programs they get deleted without problems.

I don't know how the security programs work with Delete on Windows I've heard that some of the Security programs will not delete in full and they cause problems with the system.
