Quick! Freeware Audio Editing Software?

I have to cut up some audio for work but just realized that I dont have any audio editing software! All I need is a program that will let me cut a section of audio out and paste it to a new file and do basic enhancements.

Would you know where I can get a cart machine? Basically its a program that lets you load up several audio files so they can be fired when you click on them instantly but its in an organized window.
