Quick launch icons changing

I have Vista SP1. A couple of the icons in my quicklaunch toolbar have changed to generic-looking icons - specifically, Excel 2007 and Firefox. How can I get them back? Thanks,
Larry

right click on the icons and delete them. Find the shortcut icons for firefox, excell, etc and drag them into the quick launch bar. (make sure to unlock the bar--right click on it and uncheck lock the taskbar)

Thanks but it didn't work - I created shortcut icons by right-clicking on the main icons, but as soon as I dragged them to the quicklaunch area they turned into those funky icons. Is there another place I can look for excel, firefox, etc icons?

What exactly do the icons look like?

Also, try right clicking on the quick launch area and hitting 'open folder'. Try adding the shortcuts into there.

The "open folder" technique didn't work either :-(

The icons: Firefox has what looks like a closed spiral binder/book/somethins with a yellow square and a red x on the cover. Excel has a spreadsheet with a toolbox sitting in front of it.

The odd thing is they work fine and the rest of the icons are ok. Grrrr!

Anybody there - quick launch icons

Hello - I haven't heard from anyone in a couple days so I'm wondering if I posted this correctly? The original thread should be attached to this note. Please help! Thanks, Larry

I'd post a screenshot but I can't seem to figure out how. Old dog new tricks I guess.

Press/hold ctrl and then hit print screen button. Then open up paint, paste it into there, save, upload to a hosting site (photobucket), and post the URL here so we can see it.

i think he's talking about his icons changing from the 32 or 64 bit color icons to the 16 bit ones. i know theres an option around somewhere that has to do with what type of icons u want to use. try looking around the control panel or quicklaunch properties. good luck
