Quick question about ram

I just installed an extra GB of DDR ram onto my existing 256MB. When I bought it, I wasn't sure if I needed DDR2 or DDR, I got the DDR and installed it into my computer. I haven't noticed a huge difference yet. Under My Computer, it tells me there is 1.25 GB of ram and I just want to make sure it wouldn't be telling me this if the ram I bought was incompatible. I've never bought ram before or installed it or anything, so I want to be sure I did everything right. Thanks.

Everything's right. You may not notice the speed difference at the moment, but you will when you're multitasking and loading things up or saving large files.

DDR would definitely not physically fit in the motherbard if it was a DDR2 board

Unless it's a combo DDR and DDR2 board like this (usage is still mutually exclusive tho)
