Quick Question.. Maybe OS-related..

Just installed Windows XP Professional SP3 OS disc.

Obviously I have to install the drivers. Now, my question is, is there a way to view all the ACTUAL hardware on my device without opening up my case and peeking around? Device Manager is currently stating mostly generic drivers, for example, HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B for the CD-RW+ drive.

Or is Device Manager correct and I'm just assuming that it's a generic driver when it's the true driver for my hardware?

It's 11:08 pm and I'm feeling lazy and don't want to open the case up :'(

If you just installed the OS your just running on the generic windows drivers. Need to update them. If you dont know your hardware and dont want to look. Just install something like PC Wizard and it should tell you what all your hardware is to look for the drivers.

Thanks. Is there any free driver download utility? I know of Driver Detective, but I know also that it isn't free :P
