Quick Question on Associated File Formats

Howdy folks,

I'm having a bit of a mare with my machine... When I installed my PhotoPlus! software, I stupidly agreed for it to be the default programme for opening the majority of picture formats. I would now like to return these defaults to old faithful, the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, preferably without the need to reinstall the software. Is there a way to do this through control panel, or will I need to reinstall?

The only reason that I ask is because it's quite a hefty memory-monster and, if I have other programmes running already, it will slow the beast right down. WP&FV on the other hand, is relatively dainty and nimble...

Any thoughts please?

Go to any folder...such as My Documents. Go to Tools, Folder Options and go to the File Types tab. Look for the extentions you want to change, and click on change. Find the program ya want. ;)

If you're talking a whole boat load of file types, it just might be easier to uninstall and reinstall, and make sure you don't select the option to have PhotoPlus! be the default viewer. If you're talking one or two formats, open up any file folder, click Tools -> Folder Options... -> then the File Types tab. Scroll down til you find the extension and file type you want to alter, then highlight/select it. Press the Change button, and then pick WP&FV out of the Recommended Programs list. Click OK, then repeat for any other file extensions you want to change. Click Close when you're done:)
