Quick Question

So I just ordered the 22 inch monitors...24 proved to be to big and 22 looked just right.
My question is simple sorta....you know VGA/blue what is the white colored adapter that comes with GPUs? What is it called firstly.
I ask would it be better to buy a cord for that or is there no improvement over the adapters?I was just curious since all my previous monitors have been simple vga/blue types.

Are you talking about a DVI(white) input compared to a VGA(blue) input? If so, it all depends on the monitor and the video card. Most new monitors already come with the dvi cable if it has a dvi input. I would recommend using the dvi cable and input. I think you actually get better quality and resolution out of a dvi input.

Yeah that was it DVI.

It does come with the DVI cables actually...thank you. I wasn't sure if it made much of a difference. Maybe I will test it...1 week with VGA and 1 week DVI.

Thanks.

You should definitely be using DVI - it's higher quality since it's digital (normal VGA is analog and suffers from signal loss, even though probably insignificant), and also supports higher resolutions (don't know how high VGA allows).

And, IMO, the most important reason: you don't need to "adjust" it. With all flat panels I've used with VGA, I've had to do this "Auto Adjust" trick (or w/e it's called) to get the display centred properly every time I booted/the resolution changed, otherwise it would appear slightly offset (at least one of the edges got chopped off). I hated it...

Some LCDs you don't have to adjust the screen if you're running at the native resolution, but some you do... It really depends on the screen. I know my Viewsonic would always be fine at it's native res using VGA, but anything besides that would almost always be off and require an auto adjust.

As for VGA vs DVI, I never really noticed any difference. DVI is (well can be) pure digital so the quality "should" be better. But, if for nothing else, as hack said, DVI is better because it always scales the screen correctly.

I see well thank you guys will make sure to use it.
BTW would any of you gents know a good site for LCD break down what to look for etc?

Newegg shafted me (the hardest I have ever seen) so I want to do some more reading/research before I buy another. Thank you.
