So, in my current build I have 2 x 4GB DDR3 1866 sticks and four slots total, and I'm planning on upgrading in the near future, so here are my questions.
1.) The two 4GB sticks are in dual channel, if I put a single 8GB stick in another slot does it have to have the same speed, timing, and CAS latency?
2.) Would there be a performance decrease on all three sticks if I used let's say a 1600 stick instead of an 1866 stick even though they aren't in the same channel?
