quick ram question

ive currently got 1gig of ram in my system (specs in sig) is there a point in getting another gig and makin it 2 in total. if i do get more, do i have to get the same type as what i have now? or can i just use another brand?

If your running out of ram and using your virtual memory--SLOW, Then sure upgrade to 2GBs. Its always better to use the same type ram, even more so in dual channel!

Do you really need 2gigs?

You will need 2gb for the New Windows Vista though

I am running Windows Vista (yes, it is licensed), and you do not need two gigs.

You CERTAINLY do not need it for Windows XP. It is a waste of money. No matter how much RAM you have in your system it will always swap to the harddrive because that's how Windows was designed to run. It is dependent on virtual memory and that is why you can't get rid of it without causing errors.

I believe the minimum is 512MB and the recommended amount of memory is 1GB.
