Quick SSD in laptop question

Ok so my mom got a tosgiba satellite c655d-s5531, and my dad wants to put a SSD into it, but i know they have 7mm drives so idk if it meeds one of those or if a 9.5 or whatever mm drive will work. Considering it has a mormall hdd in now i think it should but just wamted to check

Any 2.5" SSD will work with that laptop.

The best thing to do with an SSD is to do a fresh install. Otherwise, you could always follow this guide if you're set on cloning the drive.

Well it didnt come with a restore and i dont have an install disk so will have to clone it

Think im just going to ask to download the latest win 8 preview. Hes getting the 8 pro upgrade when it's out for 15 bucks with a deal they had. Then again that might not work, or would it up 8 preview?

You can't upgrade 8 preview to pro for the $12. You will need an actual operating system that is out already such as vista or 7.

You can always create recovery cd's to reinstall 7 on the SSD.

Figured and that was actually my first thought, and cd's are pretty cheap and a recovery set would be good to have laying around just in case so will prob go that route
