Quick Windows 7 Question

Windows 7 can upgrade from both XP and Vista. I'm not sure if they took out the ability to full-install or not though.

see thats what i want to know. because i want to preorder this because of the nice discount. But if i then have to buy windows XP/Vista before it, it would not save me money.

The upgrade disks and full retail and OEM are all the same data on the disk. The only difference is the code you get in your package.

I'd like to know the answer to your question too. But my guess is - that it's only for upgrades. If you decide to be a guinea pig - and try it out - let us know the results :D

You can still fresh install with an Windows 7 Upgrade disc, just as you could with Vista.

Also,
Microsoft designed Windows 7 Upgrade media for Windows Vista.
A customer with Windows XP can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade media
but must back up their files, clean install, and then reinstall their applications.

Matt234123 do you really not know if your running an genuine copy of Windows XP or Vista? It's pretty simple really did you steal it (non genuine) or did you buy it/have it come with a new system (genuine)?
