Sup everyone,

I currently have a computer thats down and out and replaced it with a nice laptop (1g ram, 1.66ghz 667MHz FSB 2 MB L2 cache duo core, 100 gig HD, ATI mobile x1400 vid card), but am still not completely satisfied (I tried playing HL2 on mid to high settings and it was constantly freezing). I was considering buying a nice Alienware or a good Dell (which would run me a good 2 grand), OR doing some interior remodeling on my broken computer.

The broken computer has: ATI Radeon 9800 pro, 2.8 Ghz intel processor, 80 gig western digital HD, a Gigabyte titan GA-8IPE1000 MOBO, and 2 gigs of corsair ram. My comp broke when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my sound card (I unhooked everything and tampered with it, one of the springs in it was broken, keeping it from being directly connected to the metal plug of the speaker), and when I turned it back on, it stayed on for about 5 minutes and shut down.

Now I need your help in deciding what choice to make. If I replace some parts in my currently broken desktop, it will take much time and effort, as I do not know much about the process of putting together computers, BUT it will most likely save me a bundle of money. If I chose this root, could you guys help me out on the choices of parts I should buy? I would like to add that my $$ limit is quite high. I want a new vid card, hard drive, sound card, maybe a new processor, MAYBE a new motherboard, and also a power supply that you think would support your build. My other choices are:

http://www.alienware.com/configurat...syscode=PC-AURORA-7500-R4&subcode=SKU-DEFAULT with a 2 GIG ram upgrade

OR

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DXCWNF4&s=dhs

Anything else you can suggest would be of great help as well.

I greatly appreciate your consideration in my post.

it came out to be USD$2,184

Thanks, I really appreciate your help. There will be some minor tweaks to lessen the price, but overall that will be my build. :)
