overclocked qx6700 with asus striker 680i.

using 2 x 2 ocz reaper 6400 so cant go too high.

core clock is 2.66
eventually got it to 3.2ghz stable. should i push for higher?

spent about 2 hours last night trying to get it higher, but wouldnt stabalise.
i had ram timings of 4 4 4 12. currently using them now.

thats the tightest i could get them stable.

tried pushing the fsb more but every time i blue screen'd after 5 mins of prime95.
its not temps as temps are 33 - 35 idle and 45 - 47 on load.

i think ill hang my hat on this one and concentrate on oc my 8800gt's

Well first off, you have a B3 stepping cpu. Those arent as good at overclocking as the G0 which are the ones you usually see the high numbers with. Also, have you raised your voltage at all?

voltage was set at 1.37. so i increased to 1.38 and then to 1.42.
spent a long time going through a lot of the settings and nothing would stabalise.

ive decided to elave it at 3.2ghz and work on my gpu's.
also ordered a watercooling set for them to go with my cpu wc set.

well there are 2 other things you can try, increasing the memory voltage, or the North bridge voltage. If you do the north bridge, do it only once as you really dont want it to be high.

Also, is your PCI bus set to its default?

the bios shows the default as being auto. when i try change it it gives me a list but it doesnt show what its auto is set to.

i put it to 1066. ill try the northbridge voltage later. ive got a small 40mm fan and ill put that on the northbridge in case it gets hotter.
what should i put the memory voltage up to? its set to 1.87 and northbridge is 1.32.

Just take the memory up in very, small steps, as in 1 at a time. I had to raise my memory a bit to run it at 960ish, but it all depends on the ram. Also, lock the pci-e bus at 100 mhz, if its auto, it will raise a bit which could cause instability.
