Qx6800?

Alright so I was thinking about changing the proccessor in my new build to the intel Core2Extreme Quad Core QX6800 so of course the first thing I did was searched 'QX6800' in NewEgg, but for some reason I only get two hits which are both full systems right, so I am thinking??? then I click on the second hit, and on it in one of the comments it says...

This is one of the only ways to purchase Intel's new QX6800 Extreme Processor. They only sell this processor in OEM form due to low production figures and its need for an exotic cooling device. So, most of us don't know how to install "water cooling" or any other exotic cooling, for that matter.

Is this correct?

Btw the page it was on was http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883102025

So what's going on?

Kent.

They haven't been released to the public market yet, supposedly in the Q3 it's when is going to be release to the public

They are available now. I've built two systems using them and they're awesome. You can OC a QX6800 to about 3.6 GHz before you run into stability problems. If you're not planning on OCing, go with the QX6700 instead. They're cheaper and there's no noticable difference in performance. Amazon.com has them for under $1000 right now

Where can I buy the QX6800?

I seriously cannot find a QX6800 anywhere..

and to holdenxx or whatever you can find the QX6700 on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115011

The qx6800 by itself is not available to the general public yet.... but it will be soon. They are only available in quantity to computer manufacturers. I get mine through a friend who works for a company called maingear.

The rumor I heard was within a month.... but you know how rumors go.... believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. The difference between the qx6700 and qx6800 is that the qx6800 can be OCd maybe .2 GHz more than the qx6700. That's it
The rig I have now is going up for sale and my next project will be similar but with a qx6700. The $400 difference in price isn't worth it.
