radeon 9800xt opinion

i personally have never even heard of them, but that doesnt necessarily mean they are bad...i think most video cards are pretty much the same, they all use the same basic board, then put their own cooling setup on it and whatnot.

Why would you buy the high end of a previous generation when a lower end card of this generation would smoke it? A Nvidia 6600gt AGP would suit you much better than a 9800xt. Also, I've never heard of that manufacturer.

Yeah, I've been looking at some of the new-gen cards and I think I'd be stupid to buy the 9800xt. I've read that the new-gen Nvidias kill ATI, is this true?

that all depends on what you are doing with it and what games you are playing and whatnot, there are some games such as Doom 3, that the Nvidia cards excel at because that game was made geared towards Nvidia cards, whereas the ATI cards usually pull ahead on Half-Life 2, as its suited for them...my best advice would be to look at alot of comparisions, check out www.tomshardware.com and go to the area on video cards, they should have a slightly older article on AGP cards, with benchmarks and other information, i dont know what your budget is, and thats usually the most important factor, sometimes you can save alot of money buying refurbished items, just stick to good brands and good sites, i just snagged a Gigabyte Radeon X800 XL off newegg.com for 250 bucks, and the thing is mint, all i had to do is download drivers for it, and they had them as cheap as 190, but i didnt have the money at the time...but let us know what your budget is and maybe we can help you better
