Radeon HD2600 Issues

I've been having a few issues with said video card such as: Games crashing due to "Video driver has stopped responding", and the Fan on the card jittering out and not actually spinning without a head start from my finger. Logic dictates that both of these problems are related...to overheating. Are these known issues with the card?

A problem with the fan installed would involve temps. For the games crashing that sound like it's time to update the drivers. If you are running the Catalyst 7.9 or drivers off of the software disk likely 7.9 as well as go for the 8.2 version or at least one version newer since even the ATI patch for their goof up there doesn't work.

An overheating card will see games crash as well as any driver related issues. Sounds like you need to see a new fan on and a driver update.

I have updated by driver to 8.3 but I think what might be happening could be the fan just craps out. Would it be possible that an exposed jumper prong in contact with the fan wire could be somehow shorting it out, the fan wire is not damaged and I'm no expert on electricity and what not, although i do know a thing or two :P

A loose wire for some reason arcing, a bad fan motor binding up on you, a fan loaded up with dust being a more common cause? You will probably be far better off simply looking into seeing a replacement put to use in order to keep the card from going toast on you rather then trying to jerry rig repair a bad fan to start with.
