Radeon X1950PRO 256MB problems

Ok so I just put together a computer and I can't get a signal to the monitor when I turn it on.

This is the card that is in use:

I can't figure out why the computer doesn't pick up a signal on the monitor. The only thing I can think of is a problem with either the graphics card, or the power supply... I'm using a DVI adapter.

Here is my power supply:

Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

i would blame the power supply.

of course, it really could be anything... have you plugged in the mobo speakers and heard anything from that? i'd try reseating the ram, and the video card, and if it still gives no signal try it again. if that doesnt work then try reseating the cpu as well.

of course, faulty motherboard, cpu, ram, video card and psu are all possibilities if this is a new computer and the only real way to tell for sure is by taking another compatible item and testing it. if the extra item works, than thats your faulty component.

like i said though that power supply looks like its to blame, apevia (formerly known as aspite) doesnt make great power supplies. its specs show enough wattage and amperage but you never know with power supplies.

Can you hear the fan come on the video card? Do you have the 6 pin power connection connected to the PSU?

If your motherboard has onboard graphics plug your monitor into that to see if the rest of your computer works. If it does it is most likely the video card, so long as you have power to it.

Also, sometimes in BIOS you have to specify that you have a PCIe video card, and disable the onboard video if the other options do not work.

Let us know.

edit: also, go to the new user thread and introduce yourself to everyone. :-P
