Radeon X800XL

For the first time in...ever, I was able to use a computer that in my opinion, is the god of all computers. The reason is say this has nothing to do with the AMD FX-55 or the 4 GB of Corsair CAS 2 memory. It is the Radeon X800XL 512MB 256-bit Video card. This computer was able to run three copies of Doom 3 at ultra settings while listening to music. The best part? All of the Doom 3s were windowed. It only lagged the system a tiny bit, this video card is the best if not one of the best, the only part that isn't the best is the pricetag (as you were expecting). In my opinion this is the only video card I would spend 500$ on. So if you have the money, buy it, buy it now.

Wow! you have an excellent system (except for the monitor, lol) what was the price tage on your system?

Sorry but I'd imaging the 4 gb's of system memory had a tone to do with running 3 instances of Doom3 as well as playing music.

Edit:

You have a link to one of those cards?

how come in your specs it shows you have a fx-53 and a X850XT? If you had the FX-55 and the X850XT, both would clobber the FX-53 and a X800XL..

Overclocking with his water cooling set-up? I hope that ATI turns out something big for SLI in the future. I do hope that 512 MB cards will be 512 memory-bit by 2006.

The ATI cards are somewhat inferior when it comes to running Doom 3. Your setup is not an X800XL, so what was the setup of the other system. Or did we just catch your lie?

At least someone reads the posts, I don't own the card. If I had 500 dollars to pull out of my ass right now I would be putting it toward Asetek Vapochill Cooling, not that video card.

If you think there's someting illegitimate about this post tweaker, there's the store it was purchased from and a picture and specs.

kthxbye

the 4 GB of Corsair CAS 2 memory.

Yes too bad the memory doesnt mean much in Doom3 and yes i do know what i just said

this computer was able to run three copies of Doom 3 at ultra settings while listening to music
And how exactly did you manage that since running another instance of doom3 simply fires up the splashscreen and then it terminates itself

Overclocking with his water cooling set-up?
Unfortunately you cant overclock to add SOI :P

If you think there's someting illegitimate about this post tweaker
Hehe what's your memory running at?

The ATI cards are somewhat inferior when it comes to running Doom 3
A bit more than inferior. It's more like hands down ownership. The extra 256MB wont make it an earth shattering difference

Well Praetor, I don't know the answers to most of these questions, considering I recieved a 15 - 20 minute demonstration at my office of another persons system. If you want to know ask them. Hell, I'm not even sure of their name at the moment. Eric something?

Fair enough but I can quite assure you of things (1) after 512MB of system memory, doom3 performance has a whopping improvement of no more than 5fps even when jacked to 2GB and (2) you cant run two instance of doom3 as it [doom3] has program collision detection (which in effect negates the X800XL from rendering multiple instances of Doom3 since only one will ever be running at any time) (interesting too how it went from "you got to use the machine" to "you got it demoed to you" ;))

Sorry for the confusion, and as for running three instances of Doom, thats still a mystery to me after what you had said.
